American Jobs Act?

President Obama gave his American Jobs Act speech just a few short hours ago as his solution to our economic troubles. He did a good job of making it sound believable and achievable But as Baker's chocolate sounds good and vanilla smells good it's an entirely different matter when you try tasting it.

I'm going to start with the network run-ups to Obama's speech. CBS and ABC were discussing the politics of the situation but NBC (my choice for the evening) was discussing a Homeland security threat to the New York and Washington D.C. areas. Brian Williams put so much effort into the possible terrorist attacks to make us believe Mr. Obama took a huge risk being there this evening. I would be inclined to describe it as terrible journalism if not for the fact it was editorial propaganda. NBC blew this out of proportion and needed to focus on the House and the speech.

He starts his speech in a way that seem as if he understands the problems we Americans are facing. Obama, or his speech writers, manage to convey that these problems were created by the government and therefore he is absolved of any responsibility, yet these problems we now face have escalated under his administration i.e. unemployment average near 10%, trillions in spending and another war for our troops. He's passing the buck while getting you to empathize with him.

"The question is whether we can restore some of the fairness and security that has defined this nation since our beginning". You must listen to the entire speech to understand that his idea of fairness is to tax the rich even more while almost 50% of Americans pay no tax at all. Equal protection under the law would be a flat tax rate across all incomes. 10% is 10% whether you make $15,000 or $15,000,000.

Security is defined as a warm bed, 3 meals a day, shower facilities, health care, exercise and protection. You can get those things in jail. Security and freedom are opposites. The more you have of one the less you get of the other.

He says the American Jobs Act needs to be passed right away. In fact Mr. Obama states this almost 20 times during the course of his speech. That much urgency reminds me of what Nancy Pelosi said" We need to pass this bill so we can find out what's in it". The legislation has not been sent to Congress yet so anything could be added or removed even if it contradicts what Mr. Obama said.

"There should be nothing controversial about this legislation". In the mind of a socialist anything that they propose that meets resistance baffles them. They fail to comprehend why people don't want socialism. It destroys nations.

Mr. Obama says that it will help with construction projects, teachers, veterans, and long term unemployed. He lists some of the construction projects as building bridges, airports, railroads and other highway activities. For teachers they get to go back to work in the brand schools that will be built. He wants to help Veterans. Ever since he was going to charge service members for the health care they received from injuries sustained during wartime simply because they volunteered to serve despite being ordered into combat by the President, I cannot believe that he genuinely wants to help our Veterans. He wants to help the long term unemployed with one more year of unemployment insurance. My father was "laid-off" during the early 1980's in Iowa and there was no unemployment insurance yet we managed to survive.

The jobs Mr. Obama talks about are primarily government union jobs. Construction and teaching. This will not stimulate the economy as it is more government spending. It boils down to assets and liabilities. Assets put money in your pocket, liabilities take money out. Every government job is a liability to America because the government takes the money out of our pockets to pay for it. Even though Senator Harry Reid has said that paying taxes is voluntary I'm fairly certain that he was only referring to members of Congress.

The AJA paid for cuts, 1 trillion over 10 years = 100 billion per year = 0.714% = of gov't spending for just one year. Billions and trillions are big numbers but mean nothing if they do not have a point of reference. Government spending will remain 99.3% as it is. If you made $50k and your medical insurance went up by .714% your monthly salary would decrease from $4166.67 to $4136.92 for a difference of $29.75. We see these changes almost every year as employers keep changing benefit plans. If Obama and Congress want to make real changes then it has to be 10% or more in spending cuts per year.

Mr. Obama has a Jobs Council which is another government entity telling the people who, what, where, when, why and how. He is pro-enormous government and the size of government is the problem. Now he did discuss tax cuts and extensions for businesses which is a good thing but I'm inclined to believe that these cuts and extensions will only be for 1-2 years and in the world of business that's living paycheck to paycheck. They need 5-7 years to plan for growth and when the Democrats and Republicans keep changing taxes and regulations every other year or even every year moving overseas out of these storm waters is very appealing.

I did find it interesting that when Mr. Obama talked about those who support cutting government spending and regulating that there was cheering and clapping yet the camera remained focused on the podium. However when the Democrats stood and clapped you could see their faces. "Move along folks, there's nothing to see here, no bias at all".

It was ironic that there was a storm in D.C. as he was giving his speech. It could be a sign of things to come under his administration. As my last talking point here's where he revealed his true identity. At approximately 30 minutes into his speech Obama says "What kind of country would this be if this chamber had voted down social security or medicare just because it violated some rigid idea about what government could or could not do. How many Americans would have suffered as a result". That rigid idea is OUR LAW! How many Americans would have been helped if the New Deal never occurred? How much sooner would the Great Depression have ended? He is justifying government intervention of individuals' Liberty under the pretense of caring for them. He will gladly ignore the restraints of the Constitution to put forward his agenda to grow government and continue the wealth redistribution. His core values will not allow him another course of action.

Take 5 minutes to read our Constitution then listen to the speech again. Afterwards ask yourself these questions: Where does he want to spend the money? Who will they get the money from? How will 1000's of teachers going back to work stimulate the economy? Why can't we cut spending and regulations? And finally, Why is Obama so willing to violate the Constitution even though he took an oath before all of America to support and defend it?
